U.S. Senator Ed Markey and Mayor Setti Warren stopped by the BPA booth at Newtonville Village Day this afternoon. Mayor Warren kindly told Senator Markey that the Association had hosted "a terrific event" in the Bullough's Pond Fair earlier in the day. The Senator asked BPA board members at the booth about the pond, and they were able to tell him about the upcoming need for dredging of the pond to protect it from build up of silt and pollutants, and to prevent downstream flooding in Newtonville. Both the Fair in the morning and the BPA's participation in this afternoon's Village Day festivities were successful in terms of raising awareness and in fundraising through sales of BPA logo mugs and notecards. |
